The Elephant in the Room...or on the deck

February 19, 2013

Nobody guessed which of the bits and pieces on the deck were more of my spray painted projects when I posted photos of the newly decorated deck, so here's a giant clue...the elephant ornaments and 2 plant pots. We'll start with the elephants. They are from Bunnings and can be found in the garden section for $10.98 each - more details here.

But as you can see, they don't start out white - that's where the spray paint comes in.   The original colour has a kinda relic from the past look which would look good in the right setting, but against the grey of the deck I wanted something a bit brighter.

So two coats of primer, followed by two coats of white gloss spray paint and the elephants were done. The great thing about these elephants is that they are inexpensive to start with and then for a few dollars more, they can be any colour you like.  They are also really light so you could potentially use them inside as well as out.

I'll be back to show the before and afters of the plant pots soon!
