The Pool: Days 23 & 24

January 23, 2013

I said we would finish the deck this past weekend but running out of paint on Sunday afternoon put an end to that idea...Slow and steady I guess. Lucky we have a long weekend this weekend to finish things off and maybe even have a look for an umbrella. I've had a look online and found a couple of umbrella possibilities but wow, some of the prices are nuts...Anyway, we do now have a door in the deck wall (you can see the before picture here), leading to the little house where the pool filter and pump live, and every single nail hole on the plinth boards has been filled. I probably could have filled the nail holes before the first coat of paint went on but I find them a bit easier to find with a bit of paint on them.

I fitted in a trip to IKEA to pick up an outdoor coffee table to place between our sun lounges and it was one of those visits where the decorating gods where working with me. After finding the coffee table in the aisles, I dragged it along towards the checkouts and stopped by the 'As Is' corner (as no visit to IKEA is complete without a visit there, right?) to have a look and there waiting for me was the coffee table I was about to buy, already assembled and with 35% off the price (it had a small scuff mark on one leg). HAPPY. The table is from the Roxo range.

Also, don't forget to cast your vote in the great frog sprinkler makeover of 2013 (poll is on the right-hand side). Gold was the early favourite but now pink is in the lead!

  1. Great bargain find - love it when things work out like that! Pool area is looking so good, you must be giving the pool a work out at the moment with the weather we've been having. I'll go and cast my vote for the frog colour now xx

  5. Your deck by the pool is fabulous! Knowing that you’re being careful in deciding every detail you put in, it must be quite fulfilling for you to see it unfolding before your eyes. The black and white color combination is classy and was completed by the bright color of the towels. I hope you finish painting your deck on the weekend so you’ll be able to enjoy and relax!

I don't think you will get much use of it this weekend though :-(
